What is involved in Great Neck Invisalign treatment?
The Invisalign clear aligner system aligns teeth and helps to improve oral health by using a series of clear, removable aligners. The trays are constructed of a smooth, comfortable material that fits firmly over the teeth. These trays are designed to be switched out every 1-2 weeks to keep up with the teeth as they move into their desired new positions. When used as directed, Invisalign has been proven to be just as effective as traditional braces at treating many of the most common orthodontic issues. At your initial consultation, we will use x-rays and digital impressions to create a precise 3D image of the teeth. From this, we build a customized aligner that is specific to each patient's smile.
What are the benefits of choosing Great Neck Invisalign treatment?
One of the biggest benefits of Invisalign aligners besides being nearly invisible is their removability. Invisalign aligners are designed to be removed before eating or drinking anything other than water. You'll never have to worry about getting food stuck in your wires and brackets, and brushing and flossing will be as easy as it has always been. This makes it much easier to access your teeth and maintain a good oral hygiene routine. Keeping your teeth clean and healthy is especially important for orthodontic patients.
With Invisalign, you don't have to forego any of your favorite foods while you're working on a straighter smile! Since you can remove your clear aligners, you can avoid any food restrictions. This is significant because food restrictions are often the biggest learning curve with traditional braces. Your aligners will need to be removed before all meals to avoid staining. They should also be cleaned and rinsed out with warm water at least once or twice a day.
With Invisalign aligners, there are no wires poking you in the mouth, and there aren't any adjustment appointments. Invisalign wearers are still expected to attend follow-up visits about every 6-8 weeks, however, so that Dr. Wolf can be sure everything is going according to plan.
How does the Great Neck Invisalign system work?
The Invisalign system is pretty straightforward. Each aligner will be worn for 1-2 weeks and should be worn any time that you are not eating, drinking, brushing, or flossing. As the aligners are replaced with the next one in the series, your teeth will be moving gradually, until they reach their final desired positions.
During visits with Stacy Wolf Orthodontics, we will check to make sure treatment is progressing as planned. You must change the aligners on and wear them as directed. This is the most important element to success with your Great Neck Invisalign. Your trays will be custom-made to fit your needs. They will need to be changed frequently in order to keep up with the shifting of the teeth as they begin to straighten. Not changing aligners as scheduled or skipping your appointments can quickly undo any progress that's been made.
It's important to remember that every patient will respond to orthodontic treatment differently. Invisalign works differently than braces to straighten the teeth. This means it can be hard to say how long a particular patient will need to wear them before seeing results. Though the average tends to be somewhere between 6 and 18 months, this can vary widely from case to case. Treatment time depends a great deal on how well the patient follows instructions.
The average treatment time is estimated based on patients following the recommended guidelines. This means wearing aligners for at least 20-22 hours every single day, during treatment. Any small slip-up can add extra time to the overall process. Invisalign can only work if patients stick to the program.
